Winter Park

Renowned for its ski slopes, biking, backcountry climbs, and other outdoor adventures.

Welcome to Winter Park

Embrace the mountain lifestyle near the snow-capped Rockies

Winter Park is known as a charming resort town and is renowned for its ski slopes, biking, backcountry climbs, golfing and other outdoor adventures. The year-round populace includes less than 3,000 homes and is ideal for those dedicated to winter recreational sports and the mountain lifestyle. In a resort town like Winter Park, the focal point is on the winter sporting adventures and natural landscape. People who live in Winter Park are fortunate to see the seasons change in a place where many vacationers wish they could extend their stays, making residents treasure their homes and time there.

The town has plenty of new construction homes with contemporary and popular Colorado-style architecture like the rustic mountain theme. These homes will often have logs on the outside or ornamental stone, much like the designs of the local, magnificent Winter Park Resort's main ski lodge. The style perfectly complements the mountain scenery.

What to Love

Local Lifestyle

Downtown Winter Park is a blaze of warm, beckoning lights in the middle of the pines and snowy Rocky Mountains. Throughout the year, residents love to spend time outdoors, whether it's hiking through the mountains while the wildflowers are in bloom or skiing down snow-covered mountains.

Winter Park is known as a place to mountain bike, and residents can always travel to Denver for extensive shopping and nightlife. Yet, many in Winter Park deliberately choose the peaceful, serene town far from the front range. Those who truly enjoy skiing may own ski-in and ski-out homes with slopes right outside their doorsteps.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

At Winter Park Resort, skiers can take a break in the Waffle Cabin with waffles and cocoa. Waffle Cabin restaurants are at the bottom of the Looking Glass, Olympia, and Mary Jane lifts. Goodys Mountain Creperie serves brunch consisting of delectable French crepes decked with plenty of toppings. This cafe is in the middle of the lodge, which makes it the perfect choice for a morning meal before bounding off to the slopes. In contrast to the shops and eateries near the main lodges, Sunspot Mountaintop Lodge is in the middle of the resort and has a remote, scenic view of the mountains for those in the middle of the slopes.

Doc's Roadhouse is close to the main lodges and next to HWY-40, but this bar and grill still has an exquisite view of the mountains from its outdoor seating gallery and inside rooms. Stoney's Winter Park, a favorite sports bar in the area, has specialty western canned cocktails, and the drinks are served to take outside, which skiers often do at the resort when it is very chilly. The Mountain Adventure Center has the most coveted brands in ski equipment, high-end apparel for outdoor skiing, and any ski accessories people need for comfortable outings on the inclines. North of the resort, restaurants like Randi's Grill and Bar is a cozy Irish Pub, while Namaste India ensures that locals still have access to gourmet Indian food. In or outside of the major resort, there is no shortage of modern eating options.

Things to Do

While living in a ski town tends to center around the major resort in the area, Winter Park has events, festivals, and other natural spots for residents to amuse themselves throughout the year. The annual Winter Park Jazz Festival is held in July at the Rendezvous Event Center and is not affiliated with winter sports. For nearly 40 years, the jazz festival has attracted a star-studded bill, and opening acts to Winter Park in the off-season and is an enjoyable event for year-round residents in town who appreciate smooth jazz. Life in Winter Park would not be possible without the tourists and locals who value the natural features of the land.

The Headwaters River Journey is a natural science museum highlighting the Colorado River and the importance of preserving natural resources. For camping enthusiasts, places like the Idlewild Campground provide year-round residents with spaces to enjoy the landscape and bear boxes to keep unwanted animal guests away from the provisions. In the summer, residents can also trek to the Grand County Archer's Association and play their 3-D archery course, a novel twist on a classic sport.
