Carbon-Monoxide Legal Compliance


This is Colorado Law which includes the areas we sell in, such as Winter Park, Fraser, Tabernash, Granby Ranch, Granby, Grand Lake, and Hot Sulpher Springs. We help sellers with the Carbon-Monoxide Legal Compliance by reminding them at the time of listing and before closing.

Properties Covered By the law:

  1. Single-Family Dwellings
  2. Multi-Family Dwellings
  3. All Residential Rental Properties

The general rule is that Carbon-Monoxide detectors must be installed within 15 feet of the entrance to each bedroom lawfully used for sleeping purposes, or in a location as specified in any building code adopted by the state or any local government entity.

On March 25, 2009, Governor Bill Ritter signed into law Colorado House Bill 1091 requiring the installation of carbon monoxide alarms in residential properties. This bill is called the Lofgren and Johnson Families Carbon Monoxide Safety Act.
